Autumn is a wondrous time of the year
With its dazzling colors so vivid and bright
When the hot days of summer are fading away
And we start using covers at night

That's when I go to my mountain retreat
Where the water runs fresh and cool
I found a small inlet in a hidden cove
That I call my little thinking pool

This annual retreat is a time of reflection
On the present, the future and the past
With my heart at peace and my mind all clear
The pace is slow and I can relax at last

I reflect on my wonderful family and friends
And the many blessings that God has given me
For the bountiful life that I've so enjoyed
And our beautiful country that still remains free

Communing with nature and one with my God
I find peace in my secret place of meditation
As I return to the business of daily life
My soul cleansed, I leave without hesitation
